I use Broadcast 2000 quite a bit.

Cinelerra is the successor to Broadcast 2000. It is a completely
different code-base and is still of developmental quality. It does seem
to have potential, though.

Heroine Virtual, the guys who write Broadcast 2000 and Cinelerra
appear kind of odd to me. I don't understand their justification
for their attempt to remove Broadcast 2000 from public access
(http://www.heroinewarrior.com/bcast2000.php3). If you do a little
research on their online documents you will find quite a few odd
monologues.

The libquicktime project (http://libquicktime.sourceforge.net) has
started because of their unwillingness to work with outside developers.

They have written some nice code, I just wish they would consider
contributed patches a little more. And get rid of the ridiculous in-house
GUI toolkit!
