How come?  Is v4l2 not to eclipse v4l1?

Right.  That should be done outside of gstreamer.  IMHO gstreamer is
components, applications are not gstreamer components.

:-(  Weeks or months for decent gstreamer v4l[2]src or weeks or months
for that plus a recording lib, or weeks or months for all of those
plus the gui?
