There's some stuff to do this, yes. You can make it a (v4l2-)control, and then let the button-press be detected by the application, which handles this as if the "capture" button was pressed. However, this isn't simply a kernel driver thing, it's also an application thing. Stuff like this doesn't belong in the kernel as the windows driver seems to do it, imho.
