Redhat adds the custom word add the end of their release for the source in
/usr/src.
Edit /usr/src/linux-2.4/Makefile, and remove custom from the Release.  Or,

cd /usr/src/linux-2.4
cat Makefile | sed 's/8custom/8/g' > Makefile.new
mv Makefile.new Makefile
