Because of restrictions with via686b (ac97) I had no sound during play back a file, which is under recording with nvrec and also players stopped, when they reached the filesize they read out at startup. Had an fm801 here around doing nothing and so I changed to alsa 0.9.3c and installed it as second sound device. A more current xine (cvs 20030405) does not stop on playback. Unlike mplayer rc5 (stops) and audacitiy (great improved!), where it is enough to select /dev/dsp1, for xine must be defined aliases for the soundcards in .asoundrc to select the second device. But that's all and it is fun. (saa7134-0.2.7, 2.4.20-v4l2, RH-8.0, md9717) Hermann
