RE: vloopback help

Thanks so much for the reply.
I am useing mp4live (a component of mpeg4ip) to do live broadcasts. I would like to produce two streams from the same equipment for two different bandwidths. The equipemt: P4 2.4 GHZ, 512 DDR RAM, Maxtor 40GB HD, Win TV Go capture card. The OS is Mandrake 9.1. I have tried the tibit version and still no success. When I try to use mp4live with the other interface (/dev/video1 or 2) mp4live tells me that the interface does not support overlay and can not use it. The mpeg4ip people say that if it works in xawtv then it will work with mp4live. When I try to use xawtv with the geomerty parameters like the README files says also says that overlay is not supported.

Any ideas?

Thanks again,
David

I use vloopback extensively with effectv, cinelerra, and veejay. What
sort of problems are you having.
My first recomendation is to use the tibit hacked version from
http://www.tibit.org. I'm having a vloopback problem at the moment
myself that I need some help with on VectorLinux (slackware) I think its
an interupt problem as /prov/interupts looks like a lot of stuff is
sharing 11. Heres the file

           CPU0
  0: 9653526 XT-PIC timer
  1: 3270 XT-PIC keyboard
  2: 0 XT-PIC cascade
  5: 7549613 XT-PIC ohci1394, usb-ohci, nvidia
  8: 1 XT-PIC rtc

usb-ohci, SiS 7012

NMI: 0
LOC: 0
ERR: 0
MIS: 0

Loopback works great with dc1394_vloopback to anything but effectv hangs
when I try to pipe from one to the next. :-(

Here is a very good tutorial on the subject:
