How do you determine which 'model' you have? I've tried to get mine to work, but it locked my box up.

I thought there was an indication that the chipset varied not just by model. I've got a quickcam express.

So is there a driver for that device that won't lock up my box?

it should say on the box (quickcam express, web, ... + type nr.). You
can also break the cam (open it) to see what chip is inside it (but I
suppose you don't want this).

Not if I don't have too, although I've done worse...

I didn't have to buy my radio from a specific company to listen
to FM, why doesn't that apply to the Internet (anymore...)?
