Have a look at WebMedia STB GUI API  (http://linux4.tv). They also have
awesome low-cost multimedia reference platform with Linux support.

This is an HTML based interface and uses ViewML as the browser engine. When we looked at the performance of the WebMedia Software that came as part of the NS SP1SC10 platform, we found that the response is very poor. I believe that the performance issue is because it is programmed as if it it running on a PC and not an embedded platform.
