How "ready" is gstreamer?  I currently capture real-time (from bttv
0.8.33) with mp1e (cvs) and will, when space requires it, convert the
mpeg to divx4 (offline) using mencoder.  Is it realisitic to replace
any of these parts with gstreamer yet?

How about playing?  Is anything in gstreamer near what MPlayer
provides?  Specifically I output to my G400 using the framebuffer
driver with the CTRCs configured to give BES functions to the TV-Out
head.
