  Marcus,

DirectFB is an interesting project, and I have it in mind for my PVR
app, but these issues must also be solved in X. I can't expect users of
my DVD player to install DirectFB, or be forced to only run in
fullscreen.

That said, DirectFB's APIs are still insufficient. There's no way of
querying the current refresh rate or doing timings based on it, and
there's no notion of providing fields for interlaced TV output, or
handling a TV output surface separately from the display surface.

Also, the v4l code is currently PAL-centric and does not try to
correct for judder. :)
