Are you by any chance running XF4.0.2 ?
What video card do you have ?

This box has a Matrox G200, Xv and DRI are enabled in XF4 and
I've noticed something similar; the "weird" color balance and horizontal
"noise" lately. 
It's a bit hard to exactly describe it, but imagine
a tvtuner that's slightly off. i.e. the image is ok but not pleasant to
look at...

I *think* it happened sometime after I upgraded 
to kernels > 2.4.1 and XF4.0.2...

Anybody else with similar experiences ?
