Audio Clarifications

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi, I have some serious doubts.

I have a BT878FBK TV card with antenna, FM, SVHS in, AV in and audio out
(connected to sound card line in).

I read in the driver docs that I need to specify what audio chip it
mounts.

I can see on the PCB three chips : BT878a, IR chip and a very small one
with 8 pins saying something like C8955 (I don't remember exactly the
number).

I have the video working after specifying
bttv card=0 pll=28
tuner type=5 (Philips pal, but the tuner is manufactured by LG).

Since audio out is connected to my sound card (Via integrated) line in,
I believe I should be able to hear sound once I had the sound card
working, right? But it's already working (I can play CDs), and still I
don't hear any sound from the TV (I tried xawtv and kwintv), even with
line in volume at maximum.

I tried to specify to tvaudio all the seven types of chips it supports,
but with no success.

My question is: do "tea*" and "tda*" sound chips care for FM (radio in)
sound
or do they care for TV audio (output to line in)?
Are they located on the pcb (the small 8 pin chip I can see) or under the
metal shield that encloses the TV tuner?

If it helps, I can see on the logs that only BT878 is present on i2c bus,
so the sound chip should be connected to gpio pins, right?

Besides, what is the use on tvmixer?

Thanks very much
			Nico
