I was surprised not to find an FAQ on http://www.exploits.org/v4l/ as I was
expecting this to be a common question.
I can see my usb webcam device in /proc/bus/usb/devices but no manufacturer
is listed. It's a no name webcam, el-cheapo but uses `standard` drivers
according to the manual and indeed on windows it seems to.
Is there a guide I can read to identifying how to get v4l going including
how to identify the hardware?
