I've been banging my head on a wall trying to get a
capture card to work on RH8.0.
Can someone please point me to some sort of
"step-by-step" guide?
The card is a GrandTec X-Guard (16-port) that the bttv
driver (supposedly) supports. I am running the latest
kernel that RH's up2date gives me, 2.4.20-24.8smp.
xawtv gives me blue-screens, gspy won't run, qcam
doesn't run...I'm gettin' tired of just downloading
and trying any random app hoping it'll work. I would
really appreciate some help!
I've tried to build the 2.6.0 kernel, but the modules
have serious problems, TONS of unresolved symbols, so
I think I'm going to give up on that and v4l2.
Some more details of that I think are relevant: this
capture card is marketted as a security device, and
comes with software for winblows. It does not have a
tuner, just 16 composite video inputs. The mfg claims
2fps simultaneously on all 16, so I'm hoping to get
1fps. I'm setting this up in a lab, where I need to
see the video output of a bunch of set-top type boxes,
so the 1fps is fine (only interested in the menu
system:) The box is a dual PIII-1.0 with lots of ram
and disk.
Thanks in advance, and I really hope not everyone is
away from their computer for the holidays!
Mike
