Sound volume too low

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

The cards are Terratec, v4l API, bttv0.7, with sound by cable into the MIC input of a sound card. The capture app is home-made. We have several capture machines running, for different TV channels.

The problem is that the sound volume is abnormally low on some channels, and even seems to change over time. But the software checks that the TV card has VIDEO_VC_AUDIO but *NOT* VIDEO_AUDIO_VOLUME, because I have not yet a TV board on which I could validate volume control code via the TV (volume control is currently done via the sound muxer, and that works).

Can anyone suggest anything? Maybe the flag detection is wrong and the Terratec *has* volume control. Maybe I am just cursed...

PS: it seems the problem is the same with PinnaclePCVT(card=39) and/or with bttv0.9.

TIA,
