Is it possible to compile SAA7134 under kernel 2.2.x?

Hi:

I discovered this morning that there is a version, albeit rather old (I'm
guessing), of the V4L2 driver for the 2.2.x kernel series. At present, I'm
running 2.2.20 and have been for 18 months or so. I've no real need to
upgrade, and upgrading is going to require an upgrade of my distribution
which I'm not keen to do if I don't have to (let's face it, everything else
works just fine right now). anyway, I got the V4L2 driver running just
fine, but the SAA7134 drivers won't compile. I think this is in part to do
with differences in the build systems of the 2 kernel series, as it doesn't
even try to compile the modules right now. I've done some of the obvious
things like linking /lib/modules/`kernelversion`/build to the kernel source
tree, but it's still not working for me. Before I spend more time on it, I
would like to know if this can actually be done. I know it's not
recommended, but that's not what I'm asking. I'm prepared to tinker if it
wil eventually build and run. But I won't bother if it's a lost cause.

Geoff.
