I can tell that the lines in init_bt848 below are what eventually lead to the machine hanging Hard. I inserted printk at each line until the culprit was found, then commented it out, and looked for the next culprit.

Any ideas about what to look for? Perhaps a patch that will fix the problem is blindingly obvious ;-)
