Why are you using frame buffer mode firstly - there are 640x480
NTSC timings around so you ought to be able to get the right results from
that.

Most of what I've spent time doing so far has been tuning Gnome defaults
for TV (and to an extent for PAL) - that is using saner colours to avoid
flicker, larger fonts, etc. Its just handy to be able to keep an eye
on other things in the corner of the tv sometimes.

The SiS card also tends to only do TV out right with vesa modes right
now, and I have been pondering hacking the sis driver so that it uses vesa
modes and /dev/fb to set modes (or rather to leave the mode as is) and
then use accelerated stuff as if it wasnt an FB server for the rest.

Lack of time however wins so far
