What happens with the old, working kernel/bttv on the new hardware?

No, it is fine as-is.  Both pro and non-pro versions have the same PCI
Subsystem ID.  bttv looks if the msp34xx is present to figure whenever
it is the -pro version (with stereo support) or not.  The code is in
bttv_init_card().
