Thanks for the response! I know this is slightly off topic, but is
2.6.0-test2 stable enough to use? 2.6.0-test2 has video for linux 2
built in, right?
I see that more stable and more performant. It is not only my opinion.
For server use it is not enough tested but for workstation the risk is
not so big. There is a problem about ide modules (I had to compile it
static in kernel), kernel is biger than 2.4 but works faster ang more
"fluent".
Yes v4l2 is built in but I used bytesex patches too (I'm not sure -
propably driver version is newer).
On 2.6 I got computer hang once - with develop gnome 2.3. Under kde and
window maker it works more stable than 2.4 (which maked some hangs just
on tv capture utils). Last version (in 2.6) of v4l2 has added ifdef
__KERNEL__ in videodev2.h - this way most tv apps compiles without "hand
made" changes in kernel headers (it was first, was I changed always in
2.4.20 and 2.4.21 headers).
There are patches for nvidia driver and lirc (not for saa7134 gpio - a
pity). For me that's all what I need.
I like this kernel :).
