When I run xawtv I just get a black screen, I changed to television, us cable, but nothing, still just a black screen, not even snow. Ive done some more poking around, running demsg | grep bttv produces the following bttv: Bt8xx card found (0). bttv0: Bt878 (rev 17) at 00:09.0, irq: 11, latency: 64, memory: 0xcddfe000 bttv0: detected: Leadtek WinFast TV 2000 [card=34], PCI subsystem ID is 107d:660 6 bttv0: using: BT878(Leadtek WinFast 2000) [card=34,insmod option] bttv0: i2c: checking for MSP34xx @ 0x80... not found bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA9875 @ 0xb0... not found bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA7432 @ 0x8a... not found bttv0: i2c attach [client=Philips NTSC,ok] bttv0: PLL: 28636363 => 35468950 ... ok bttv0: PLL: switching off however, after I run xawtv, to which I get no video, nothing, at all, then I run demsg | grep bttv again, now I get this bttv: Bt8xx card found (0). bttv0: Bt878 (rev 17) at 00:09.0, irq: 11, latency: 64, memory: 0xcddfe000 bttv0: detected: Leadtek WinFast TV 2000 [card=34], PCI subsystem ID is 107d:660 6 bttv0: using: BT878(Leadtek WinFast 2000) [card=34,insmod option] bttv0: i2c: checking for MSP34xx @ 0x80... not found bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA9875 @ 0xb0... not found bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA7432 @ 0x8a... not found bttv0: i2c attach [client=Philips NTSC,ok] bttv0: PLL: 28636363 => 35468950 ... ok bttv0: PLL: switching off bttv0: PLL: 28636363 => 35468950 ... ok bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: aiee: error loops bttv0: resetting chip bttv0: PLL: 28636363 => 35468950 ... ok bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 : Mi77er: bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: aiee: error loops bttv0: resetting chip bttv0: PLL: 28636363 => 35468950 ... ok bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: aiee: error loops bttv0: PLL: switching off bttv0: resetting chip bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: aiee: error loops bttv0: resetting chip bttv0: aiee: error loops bttv0: PLL: switching off bttv0: resetting chip bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: irq: SCERR risc_count=1f512008 bttv0: aiee: error loops bttv0: resetting chip the last part repeats about 10 more times for further reference here is the output of lspci |grep video 00:09.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 (rev 11) and here is the output of lspci -vv 00:09.0 Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 (rev 11) Subsystem: LeadTek Research Inc.: Unknown device 6606 Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Step ping- SERR+ FastB2B- Status: Cap+ 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort - <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR+ Latency: 64 (4000ns min, 10000ns max) Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 11 Region 0: Memory at cddfe000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=4K] Capabilities: [44] Vital Product Data Capabilities: [4c] Power Management version 2 Flags: PMEClk- DSI+ D1- D2- AuxCurrent=0mA PME(D0-,D1-,D2-,D3hot -,D3cold-) Status: D0 PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=0 PME- 00:09.1 Multimedia controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 (rev 11) Subsystem: LeadTek Research Inc.: Unknown device 6606 Control: I/O- Mem+ BusMaster+ SpecCycle- MemWINV- VGASnoop- ParErr- Step ping- SERR+ FastB2B- Status: Cap+ 66Mhz- UDF- FastB2B+ ParErr- DEVSEL=medium >TAbort- <TAbort - <MAbort- >SERR- <PERR+ Latency: 64 (1000ns min, 63750ns max) Interrupt: pin A routed to IRQ 11 Region 0: Memory at cddff000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=4K] Capabilities: [44] Vital Product Data Capabilities: [4c] Power Management version 2 Flags: PMEClk- DSI+ D1- D2- AuxCurrent=0mA PME(D0-,D1-,D2-,D3hot -,D3cold-) Status: D0 PME-Enable- DSel=0 DScale=0 PME- Does anyone have ANY idea at all what is wrong...it appears the bttv module is loading fine, when I booted up and ran lsmod |grep bttv I got bttv 57600 0 i2c-algo-bit 7052 1 [bttv] i2c-core 12768 0 [tuner bttv i2c-algo-bit] videodev 4576 2 [bttv] I ran xawtv -hwscan which scans for supported devices, I got this back This is xawtv-3.72, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.16-686) looking for available devices port 46-46 type : Xvideo, image scaler name : NV Video Overlay /dev/video0: OK [ -device /dev/video0 ] type : v4l name : BT878(Leadtek WinFast 2000) flags: overlay capture tuner so its definitely finding and detecting it, its like I cant get it to seem to use it though, is there a config somewhere I have to tell xawtv to use /dev/video0 ? also, this is what appears in the xterm window after running xawtv v4l: timeout (got SIGALRM), hardware/driver problems? ioctl: VIDIOCSYNC(0): Interrupted system call ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=15,size=48x32): Device or resource busy ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=3,size=48x32): Device or resource busy ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=4,size=48x32): Device or resource busy ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=5,size=48x32): Device or resource busy ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=1,size=48x32): Device or resource busy ioctl: VIDIOCMCAPTURE(0,fmt=13,size=48x32): Device or resource busy no way to get: 384x288 16 bit TrueColor (LE) well theres all the info I can provide, someones gotta be able to help me, this is driving me insane.
