bttv IRQ lockup under 2.4.19,2.4.20,2.4.21 and Avermedia - GCC 3 problem ?

Hello,

I've got an Avermedia TVCapture 98 which used to work perfectly.
However since I compile my kernel with GCC 3.2.3 I got, as soon
as I insmod the bttv module, I get an infinite stream of

bttv0: IRQ lockup, cleared int mask

messages, which block the machine, and I can only reboot
it with Alt-SysRq. It happens on stock 2.4.19,2.4.20 and
2.4.21 kernels with minimal options compiled with GCC 3.2.3.

I'm using Debian unstable on a Pentium IV.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

PS.The other changes to my machine include the addition
of a second, same brand, NatSemi DP8381[56] NetGear
network card. I don't think it's the culprit.
