Re: saa7134-0.2.8 (snapshot-20030605) is fine. No patch needed :)

Hi,
My system is :
1. Red Hat 9
2. kernel 2.4.20-8
3. GCC 3.2.2
4. xawtv 3.89 from http://bytesex.org
5. ADCom TV Capture Card based on SAA7130HL

'Make' runs succesfully in saa7134-0.2.8
(snapshot-20030605) directory.
However on 'modprobe saa7134' -> "CAN'T LOCATE
SAA7134" error is given and thus both v4l-conf &
xawtv complains of missing /dev/video0 (which actually
exists).
On looking into /usr/src/linux/drivers/media/video
directory, there is no saa7134 file.

------------ I R O N Y -----------------------------

However the same card is working great in :
1. Mandrake 9.1
2. kernel 2.4.21-0.13mdk
3. xawtv 3.85
4. no patch or driver applied
5. TV, S-Video, Composite1, Composite2 all are working
along with full colour and video
6. only "modprobe saa7134 card=3" (present in original

   /usr/src/linux/drivers/media/video directory) and
few additions in /etc/modules.conf is needed before
   running v4l-conf & xawtv.
7. Additions done in /etc/modules.conf
   alias char-major-81 videodev
   alias char-major-81-0 saa7134

   options saa7134 tuner=37
   options tuner type=37

Please help me as even after trying various
permutations and combinations, I have been unable to
use the above TV Capture Card in Red Hat 9.

Best Wishes.
ash.
