Re: Pinnacle PCTV Pro MSP34xx chip not being detected when installed in ServerWorks GC-SL motherboard

Hi Robert,

I had also PCTV Pro with similar problem. It was inserted in i815 MB
(MSI) and it worked only when the 3com 3c905 was in a PCI slot too.
Once I removed the 3com MSP34xx was not detected. When I inserted
another model of net card (Realtek 8139) it didn't work either.

Then I moved the PCTV Pro into i845 MB (MSI too) and it worked only
when I had enabled on-board audio chip and only after power on.
When I rebooted, MSP34xx was not detected again.

When I disabled on-board audio (as I bought Audigy 2) it ceased to
work at all.

That was enough for my patience - I need to work and not to fiddle
with a bloody TV card. I bought FlyVideo 3000FM and all my problems
are gone.

Well, not all as I cannot switch between languages when there is
dual language broadcasting. But this problem is being solved by
Gerd Knorr, the author of saa7134 drivers.

I have better picture than with PCTV Pro and the card is about half
price of Pinnacle.

On the other hand, I lent the Pinnacle to my friend and the card
works perfectly in his machine - he has some Soltek or other MB.

Well, it's up to you what to do but I believe this info helps you.

Let me know then.

Best regards,
Ing. Jozef Sakalos
