A/V sync with streamer a V4L problem, fixed in V4L2 ?

G'day,

I was recording with streamer using MJPEG into OpenDML AVI for about
1 hour last night (~ 3.4 GB file) and the sound slowly started to get
out of sync. So much so that by the end of the recording, I would
say it was out by about 3 seconds (not bad over 3600 seconds, I grant
you). Is this becoz there are no timestamps in V4L images, so that
streamer has to use gettimeofday(), which may lag the timestamps
in the audio recording by just enough (mill/micro seconds) to cause
the drift ? And if so, would this be fixed by the timestamps being
place in V4L2 frames so that I shuold start looking at loading V4L2
into my box ?
