Camera driver for PixelView Play TV Pak

Hi,

A couple of questions concerning the camera for the PixelView Play TV Pak
TV tuner/FM radio/Camera/Remote combo. FYI the camera is a Rockwell
QuartzSight with a digital interface which plugs into a special 9-pin
mini-DIN-like socket on the card. The card itself is supported by the bttv
driver. The card and camera work fine under Windows.

(The last question asked on this topic was in early 2001, with an
inconclusive answer, so I'll ask just in case.)

1) Does this camera work with the bttv driver? I've tried it with
bttv 0.7.83 using the options for the PlayTV Pak card and xawtv
3.74 (all on RH with 2.4.18 kernel) to no avail - I get a picture
from the TV tuner but nothing from any of the other inputs (only
the camera is connected, but I don't know which input should be
the camera so I've tried all of them.) Would it work if I tried a
newer version of bttv (with perhaps V4L2)?

2) If the answer is no, then is anyone working on this?

3) If not, then I'll try to do it myself, however, I don't have any
experience coding V4L drivers. Is it likely to work? Where should I
start? What do I need to learn about - video encoding formats,
   interfaces...?

Thanks,

Greg Stachowski
