I haven't had this problem lately: latest releases of saa7134 might have
fixed this methinks.

Will test this again with latest release & let you know if there are still
issues.

As in the sound changes to a static buzz (possibly a channel
mismatch). Flipping between the channels usually rectifies this problem,
and fixes video as well (if there's no video coming through). I suspect
that the video problem when changes channels is related to the problem
when entering fullscreen mode, possibly something to do with telling the
TV card where to overlay the video on the screen? This is definitely _way_
beyond my expertise, but this would be my guess. As you've pointed out,
this is all probably one big problem.

As Dave reported, the latest versions of saa7134 seem to allow me to
record fine with both streamer & mp1e. I've found mp1e to be pretty
useless, however, since it gets the video & audio horribly out of sync
(probably something to do with the fact that mp1e favours ALSA instead of
OSS, and also that I only have a P-II 233Mhz!) streamer has been pretty
cool though. All hail to Gerd (and anyone else who helped) for fixing
things up: you are true legends.

So... as Dave mentioned is his reply to this email, it seems the only
remaining problem lies with the occasional static/blackouts which we
suspect are related...

Ciao

Carl
