Re: Phillips 7134

Hi Robert,

I think most of the people having problems with the saa7134 right now have bought the 'Aldi'-card, which has been on sale last week for an excellent price.

The problem seems to be (Gerd mentioned it in a previous email) that this card does not have an eprom and therefore the id can't be read from the card. Gerd said that he will try to provide a new release later today, which should have fixed it.

As I have bought this card too, I'll just wait for the next release.

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I've been a bit quiet lately - I haven't had much time (or luck!) trying new stuff recently.

I've never had any of the sound issues were talking about now, so I can't help there, and since my FV3K doesn't have a FM tuner it probably simplifies things.

What versions are people running these days? I'm still running linux-2.4.19-pre1-ac1 as my most stable setup, with the 0.14 (I think) saa7134 - quite old :)

I've had issues with it, where sometimes (sometimes fairly soon after boot, or sometimes a few days later...) the video just blacks out, but the audio still works when you change to a channel. Only a reset (warm or cold I think) would fix it. I've tried with newer versions (saa7134-20020405 with a 19-pre4 kernel) but if anything it only got worse - sometimes not working right from the module install, and not neccessarily working after a reboot (can't remember if I tried a cold boot).

Another strange one I experience occasionally is xawtv losing the picture when I try and fine tune the channel - quitting and restart xawtv fixes this.

I'm just wondering if anyone has seen any of these, or otherwise asking what other info about them is required to make them into a useful bug report, and checking what current setup I should be testing with.

Regards,
Robert
