Hello, my experience to tweak out hardware in Linux is not so great. I've install linux-2.4.18.tar.gz and patch-2.4.19-pre4.gz and the patches from bytesex.org 01-videodev-fix-2.4.19-pre4.diff + 03-v4l2-api-2.4.19-pre4.diff.gz. bttv-0.8.38.tar.gz and saa7134-20020405.tar.gz are installed to. This line modules.conf in ---8<--- char-major-81 videodev char-major-81-0 bttv ---8<--- I dont know, is that enough? I use xawtv-3.74 but I have only the picture without sound. Otherwise sound works at all. If someone can help me with the straight tip? Some output through /sbin/modprobe saa7134 # cat /var/log/messages display: ---8<--- kernel: i2c-core.o: i2c core module kernel: Linux video capture interface: v1.00 kernel: saa7130/34: v4l2 driver version 0.1.6 loaded kernel: PCI: Found IRQ 9 for device 02:0d.0 kernel: saa7134[0]: found at 02:0d.0, rev: 1, irq: 9, latency: 32, mmio: 0xed000000 kernel: saa7134[0]: subsystem: 1131:0000, board: LifeView FlyVIDEO3000 kernel: i2c-core.o: adapter saa7134[0] registered as adapter 0. kernel: saa7134[0]: Huh, no eeprom present (err=-5)? kernel: saa7134[0]/video: DCSDT: no signal kernel: i2c-core.o: driver i2c TV tuner driver registered. kernel: tuner: probing saa7134[0] i2c adapter [id=0x90000] kernel: tuner: chip found @ 0xc2 kernel: i2c-core.o: client [Philips PAL] registered to adapter [saa7134[0]](pos. 0). kernel: saa7134[0]: registered device video0 [???] kernel: saa7134[0]: registered device vbi0 kernel: saa7134[0]: registered device radio0 kernel: saa7134[0]: registered device dsp2 kernel: saa7134[0]: registered device mixer1 kernel: saa7134[0]/video: DCSDT: no signal ---8<--- # /sbin/lsmod display: Module Size Used by Not tainted tuner 8740 1 (autoclean) saa7134 54092 0 (unused) videodev 5984 3 [saa7134] v4l1-compat 10804 0 [saa7134] video-buf 4928 0 [saa7134] i2c-core 13280 0 [tuner saa7134] v4l2-common 4712 0 [saa7134 v4l1-compat] sr_mod 14808 0 (autoclean) emu10k1 57504 0 (autoclean) ac97_codec 9664 0 (autoclean) [emu10k1] sound 56908 0 (autoclean) [emu10k1] soundcore 3972 9 (autoclean) [saa7134 emu10k1 sound] parport_pc 15652 1 (autoclean) lp 7328 0 (autoclean) parport 24128 1 (autoclean) [parport_pc lp] autofs 10244 0 (autoclean) (unused) ide-scsi 7936 0 scsi_mod 92488 2 [sr_mod ide-scsi] ide-cd 27136 0 cdrom 27808 0 [sr_mod ide-cd] ext3 60768 4 (autoclean) jbd 39448 4 (autoclean) [ext3] Thanks, Gunther
