one card - multiple TV sources

Hello All,

I am starting a multimedia archive project and I would like to do it on
Linux. I followed the list for the last weeks and searched the web and I
still have the following question (there was a short thread on this list
about it but id didn't help me much):

Is it possible (using a TV tuner) to capture several TV stations on one
computer using one card? I need to obtain different movie files at the end.
Also, the system has to work 24/24.

Has anyone experience with that sort of things?

How fast can such a tuner switch channels? Fast enough to capture say 4
stations at 12 frames/sec?. If the answer is yes (or close to yes) I would
appreciate a few pointers for:

1. Selecting the TV tuner.
2. Appropriate documentation that I have to read for this (especially for the
channel switching part).
3. Anything else that looks appropriate.

Thank you,

Sorin M
