Well, if you want to get there, check this out:

I run kernel 2.4.16, and the bttv driver version (we had to standardize for
the product we are creating) is version 0.8.31. It is real solid, always
does expected, NEVER hangs machine.

On kernel version 2.4.14, the one we have on the production machine, if
someone sigkills (or signals anything that I don't catch, forcing
shutdown) running capture program, then the machine kernel panics. Is this a
bug you know from that version?

I didn't want to tell Gerd because 1. Not using latest drivers and 2. Not
using latest kernel, why waste time developing for old stuff, etc. I also
figured that Gerd knew. If you (Gerd) are still interested in the bug, it is
100% reproducable and I can start looking into getting you more information
on it (sort of a bitch, though, I don't know what gets written to log file).
Chris
