The above referenced v4l2 doesn't. You can build all that is needed outside of the kernel tree and just insmod the modules. It's not as if I can't build a kernel, I just don't want to have to patch and build a kernel every time one comes out. My distro vendor's kernel suits me just fine (outside of wanting bttv 0.8 that is. :-). Is it possible to make bttv 0.8 and it's v4l2 patch a package that can be built outside of the kernel tree? Even if there was simply a script to "extract" what was needed out of the kernel source tree into the bttv 0.8 build directory, patch it and then build it, that would be nice.
