There is a similar API (ioctl() on /proc/video/ov511/<minor#>/control) but it is not necessary to use compression. You only need to load the driver with "compress=1" and then load ov511_decomp.o

What kind of fps can I reach if I stick to this model
of WebCam?


15 FPS at 640x480, and 30 FPS at 320x240. 60 FPS may be possible at lower resolutions. Testing was done with xawtv; some apps (ones that use read()) may be slower. Most USB webcams perform similarly to this.
