What about overscan and such?  Wouldn't you typically lose some of this
screen real estate on a typical consumer televsion set?

Any idea what sort of libraries exist for 'drawing' AA text in Linux?
Is there direct support in the X APIs for this?

I, like everybody else, am trying to build a Linux-based PVR, and am
contemplating what to do with a high-grade UI.
