Really, you should try mplayer!

Some of mplayer's key features are:

- plays MPEG-1
- plays MPEG-2
- plays AVI with win32 CODECs
- plays AVI with built-in OpenDivX decoder
- excellent A/V sync
- own robust file parsing (doesn't use avifile, just the CODEC support)
- supports X11/MITSHM
- supports DGA
- supports fullscreen
- supports Xv, OpenGL, and some Matrox G200/400 special output options
- supports output (encode) to OpenDivX!
- has post processing filters for MPEG and DivX ;-) (DirectShow filter)

It's also faster than any other players I've tried. It's the only player
that'll play the Heroine MPEG-2 samples without dropping frames. It
doesn't have a GUI, but if you're used to aviplay then you won't miss
that!

No, I'm not affiliated with mplayer, but I've tried a lot of Linux media
players, and this is hands down the best.
