Re: Recomendations

Hauppauge makes a low-cost bt878 capture card line called VCB.  The 64405 model has 3 composite inputs and an S-Video input. I have been working with these for several months.  Unfortunately, last time I spoke with Hauppauge, they intended the VCB units for OEM sales only.  Hauppauge, however, is willing to work with small companies if you will make a minimum order (20 units if i recall correctly).

Subject: Recomendations

G'Day All,

Being new to linux and very new to video, I would like to ask for
your recommendations. I am trying to set up a security system
which will have multiple (up to 4 ) cameras attached.

What I would like to know is what hardware (camera's capture
card etc) you would recommend.
Are there any USB based web camera's which will work with
linux as this could possibly be an easier solution.?

Do the common (linux supported) video capture cards support
multiple cameras?.

I am not concerned about having to upgrade the version of linux
as this will be a new system.

Many thanks
Peter
