I've played with this, and it's cool, but the mpegs it generates are crap. The /only/ mpeg1 player I can get to play the frames is MTV, which I'd really rather not rely on. Is this project truly deep-sixed, or is there some glimmer of hope that the algorithm can be changed to make good mpegs? > Aside: a lot of the MPEG spec. deals with stuff thats irrelevant to > PC-based video compression + playback. I am truly dissappointed by the lack of good, free software there is for playing with video. I would love nothing more than to convert the dozens of VHS home videos cassettes we have lying around into something more usable, like a standard VCD. Maybe I should just wait for Sony or JVC to come out with a VHS deck with MiniDV output :). -- -=|JP|=- "Why, oh, why didn't I take the blue pill?"
