Now this looks promising.  The module has installed and found the card.
However, xawtv gives the following:

This is xawtv-3.90, running on Linux/i686 (2.4.23)
can't open /dev/v4l/video0: No buffer space available
v4l-conf had some trouble, trying to continue anyway
v4l2: open /dev/v4l/video0: No buffer space available
v4l2: open /dev/v4l/video0: No buffer space available
v4l: open /dev/v4l/video0: No buffer space available
no video grabber device available

I've seen references to bigphysarea, which I will try now.  Thanks for
your help!
