Hello,
The MIC input uses only one channel of the audio jack; the second
channel has a 5V power supply on it; that means "it's powered".
Besides, the sensitivity of the MIC input is much higher than the one of
LINE input, so it's far less noise proof. If your LINE input picks up
noise, check the cable OR the soundcard, or try to mute the other
inputs. This shouldn't happen.
