Can't compile 2.4.22 kernel patched for bttv9

I'm having trouble viewing TV on my Asus A7N266-VM using the most recent
version of xawtv and a self compiled version of 2.4.22 (under Debian Woody).
I have an ATI TV-Wonder card with a tuner identified by a sticker on the
card as a '4036 FY5 TEMIC 3X1 981'. Using the bttv7 driver I've failed to
get a viewable TV picture (or many channels for that matter) using a variety
of different tuner types (I started with tuner=8 and worked from there). At
this point I thought I'd try the bttv9 driver and downloaded the patch set
for the 2.4.22 kernel. The patch(es) applied with no problem but trying to
build a kernel results in the message:

arch/i386/kernel/kernel.o: In function `sys_ptrace':
arch/i386/kernel/kernel.o(.text+0x5419): undefined reference to
`proc_mm_get_mm'

At this point I'm at a loss....

Thanks for any help.....

Steve
