Re: AverMedia AverTV Stereo on Severn

I've had no problem getting the volume to work on my AverTV Stereo except that the audio is lousy under Linux and perfect under Windows (not that I use Windows as anything other than a control for determining how well my hardware is supported under Linux.) Basically, the card has a cable you connect to an input on your sound board. You need to use something like TkMixer or aumixer to make sure you've selected for record the correct input, otherwise you won't hear anything. As far as the audio quality issue, I've managed to work around it by running the audio from my VCR into my soundcard rather than using the AverTV Stereo for audio.

Hi all,

I have been trying to get the audio working on Severn with my Avermedia
AverTV.

I plugged the cables on its place, and tried some combinations in
modprobe.conf:

--------------------------------
alias char-major-81 bttv
alias usb-controller usb-uhci
alias usb-controller1 ehci-hcd
alias char-major-195 nvidia
alias sound-slot-0 via82cxxx_audio
post-install sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -L
/dev/null 2>&1 || :
pre-remove sound-slot-0 /bin/aumix-minimal -f /etc/.aumixrc -S
/dev/null 2>&1 || :
                                                                                                                            # # bttv
# pre-install bttv modprobe -k msp3400;modprobe -k tuner
# options bttv radio=1 card=41 no_overlay=0 gbuffers=4
options tuner type=23

# bttv
alias char-major-81 bttv
alias char-major-81-0 bttv
pre-install bttv modprobe -k msp3400;modprobe -k tuner
options bttv card=41 radio=1 bttv_verbose=2 gbuffers=4 bttv_debug=1
automute=0 bttv_debug=1 v4l2=1 tuner=28
# options tuner type=28 debug=1
options btaudio analog=1 digital=0 dsp1=1 debug=1
above bttv tuner btaudio tvmixer
pre-remove bttv modprobe -r btaudio
post-remove bttv modprobe -r tuner; modprobe -r tvaudio
--------------------------------

Btw, I have used the "Volume Control utility" to put line1, line2 and
line3 to the max.

Anyone has a working configuration?

Thanks

Albert
