Prolink pixelview PV-BT878P+, rev 2E

Hey,

I've recently been able to aquire a used (but working) TV/FM tuner card
from a friend of mine, and I'm having a little trouble getting it
completely working.

The card, as suggested by the subject of the email, is the prolink
pixelview PV-BT878P+, rev 2E, similar to the one shown in the picture
linked to below, which is the 2F:
http://home.t-online.de/home/gunther.mayer/bttv/Prolink_Pixelview_PV-BT878P_Rev.jpg

Basically, i've got the card working, in that it can receive video, and
i've tested it under windows, to make sure it can tune audio as well
(well, FM audio), but i'm having trouble getting it to tune audio under
linux, with the brooktree video4linux drivers that come with recent
2.4.x kernels.

Basically, my conundrum is, that while the gallery page i grabbed the
picture link mentions a card very similar to mine, it doesn't mention
what settings i should use to get it working, so all i can get is video,
not audio (via one of the composite inputs)

I've tried all the phillips tuners mentioned in the CARDLIST file, but
whenever i try to tune the FM radio (using the 'radio' program, or
'gradio' or 'fmtools, it doesn't matter which one) the program claims
that it's tuned, and that i have stereo, but the audio plug at the back
doesn't make a single sound.

I'm not completely sure if i should be using card=50, 70 or 72 however,
or if i need to specify the tuner explicitly, or if i just somehow have
the volume on it turned down (gradio suggests i've got it at 100%)

the tuner's markings (it's a phillips tuner as i mentioned before) are:
3139 147 13371L
FM1216/PH hm
SV22 9848

and the brooktree chipset used is
bt878KHF
25878-12
C40108.6
9820

This is in australia, so it's definently a PAL card, and i'm pretty sure
there isn't an eeprom on my model of the card, (basically, the missing
chip in the picture linked is also missing on mine.)

Can anyone give me a couple of tips as to where i should be looking to
fix my lack-of-audio problem? i'm not completely sure what to try (it's
definently loading the tuner driver via i2c in a few instances, and i've
got btaudio loaded (although i'm fairly sure that's for capture, not
tuning)

i'm making sure that i set radio=1 as well.

Thanks for any tips you can give me,

Andrew Pilley
