I had the 3dimage, it works fine till 1024x768 (did not test
it at higher). 

The driver was twice updated I believe, and until Xfree86 4.x
wasn't very reliable. It should work well for you. Did
you update the _monitor_ limits correctly (vertical/horizontal
sync rates)? Note that the higher rates are only enabled if
the monitor can handle'm.
