Grayish pictures using bttv/xawtv webcam

Hi all,

My webcam setup produces pictures that can use some more color. It is not that the pictures are pure black and white  but colors look grayish. If you compare it to w98 pictures made using the same TV-card and PAL camera, the w98 pictures look good and the Linux pictures look almost black and white.

My system setup is as follows (not powerfull enough??):
Pentium 90 MHZ
40 MB RAM

E-tech TVCard, (uses connexant BT8xxx chip), SONY PAL camera (SSC-DC138)

Software versions
kernel version 2.2.14
bttv-0.7.91
xawtv_3.66-> I am using the program "webcam" which can be used to grab pictures from the camera and save them as .jpg

conf.modules entry:
     # TV card
  alias char-major-81  bttv
  options bttv card=8 (Flyvideo)

I tried other card options but all of the picture producing cards produce the same grayish colors

Please help,
Regards, Marten
