Xvideo & v4l module

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

I have a question regarding v4l and the Xvideo extension. According to
README.xfree4 in the xawtv distribution:

"To use Xvideo you have to load the video4linux module into the X-Server.
Just adding 'Load "v4l"' to the Modules section of XF86Config will do."

but if I do xdpyinfo it says I have the Xvideo extensions, even tough I do
not load the v4l module (I don't do it because at least in xfree86 4.0.3
it does not give me the PAL-M option).

So what is the deal? Is the v4l module responsible for the Xvideo
extension, or only for accessing the v4l interface? Where can I get
documentation on what Xvideo is, and whether my hardware supports hw
scaling?

TIA,
