Jim Getty has done some amazing stuff to build a small X.  The IPAQ
"handhelds.org" work has really benefitted.

Quoting Jim Getty's on the IPAQ list:

He goes on to write about further improvements to clean cruft out of X
which should further reduce running size.

Certainly runs quite painlessly on the ipaq.
