asus v7700 etc video in drivers...

ok, i know its bad form to ask a question about this since somebody was just
asking about it a month ago, but i have to know...

i recently got an asus v7700 video card and was pleasantly supprised to find
that in addition to a tvout, it had a video in port. supposedly (according
to the aforementioned thread) there are no linux drivers for this feature at
the moment. what i was wondering was whether or not there are any plans to
develop a driver for it, or if it will be possible at all (ie are the specs
for the chip released), or (even better) was the previous poster wrong, and
are there drivers for this. its not that big a deal for me, but it would be
nice to know if i should look out for these drivers, or not. im not sure
what the chip is, but the thread was started at the end of june, if you want
to check the archives (im sorry for not linking, but i dont know about the
url/login security issues).

thanks in advance
