xcaptest or xawtv

Hi folks,
i gotta couple questions.
Is is possible to grab at 30 fps, 640x480 24 (NTSC BGR) bit images with the xcaptest utility?
It seems that XPutImage takes 70 ms on my machine (P2 300, RH 6.2, kernel 2.2.18) and thus making a live grab impossible. I also get a whole bunch of lost frames. Perhaps because it takes so much time to display (by copying it with XPutImage) the buffer that it skips a whole bunch of frames.
I've heard that the xawtv is a better app for streaming. Just browsing
through the code I saw it does an XPUTIMAGE, which is
define for a XPutImageShm? Is this where this app pick up speed compared to
xcaptest?
Thanks,
Best Regards
Chris Jensen
