Hi everybody,

When you plug in the camera, what output do you see in /var/log/messages (if anything)?

I run Kernel 2.4.4 with SMP support.

SMP can cause problems with ov511. It usually works for a few minutes of constant streaming and then dies.

I will be setting up an SMP test system in the next few weeks, so this problem should be fixed soon. If anyone has experience setting up a dual-processor Supermicro 440BX/GX board, please contact me privately.

Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

I'm guessing that it's a problem with your USB host controller. Some people report that booting with the "noapic" kernel parameter fixes USB on SMP systems. Without having seen the errors in the kernel log though, this is just a wild guess.
