On Tue, 15 May 2001, I wrote about my troubles with the WinTV Go:

In desparation, I tried moving the card to another PCI slot, and found
another program to control it, "videodog."   It works!

I was then able to get xawtv to run, by setting the
"capture = grab" mode instead of overlay mode.  Not surprising, I've got a
pretty graindead video card.

Looking at my motherboard's user manual, it mentions that slots 4 and 5
(where the bttv card did not work) share DMA control signals, which seems
like it was the culprit.

Lessons:

1. All PCI slots are not equal.  Try another one.
2. Debug video-capture card problems with xawtv in "capture=grab" first,
	_then_ try the kinky things with overlays and Xvideo.
